A tour of battlegrounds and batteries.
Rhode Island, Newport, and the rest of Newport County, hold a special place in the history of the birth of our nation. This tour will take you to battlegrounds and batteries; to forts, to fortune, and misfortune. The British, while occupying Newport, devastated many homes and public buildings, and shattered the local economy. You’ll see and hear about the remnants of the occupation, the villains and the victors, and why some establishments escaped unharmed. This is a three-hour tour, morning or afternoon.
The Tour season is April to Nov. 15.
